Masada

Masada Israel

Masada, which is located in the south of Israel, is a very popular travel destination for Jewish people interested in learning more about the history and culture of their ancestors.

The place is known because of the Siege of Masada that took place as part of the First Jewish-Roman War. The siege resulted in the rebels committing a mass suicide. The site was only located in 1842, but it wasn't until the 1960s that it was eventually excavated.

Tours in Masada and the Area

The area of Masada has now transformed into a historic landmark. It is located roughly 20 kilometers from the city of Arad. It is possible to join day trip tour groups to Masada from both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Visitors can also enjoy more extensive tours that go through Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Masada, and the Dead Sea. The tours take you to all the best sites within this area.

Masada and the Dead Sea

Masada is also very close to the Dead Sea, what makes the area even more popular. One of the most amazing parts when visiting Masada is the beautiful panorama of the Dead Sea that can be taken in at the summit of the cliff. The amazing view of the Dead Sea is one of the reasons many people travel to Masada on their vacations to Israel.

A Journey up the Masada Cliff

When you decide to take a journey up the Masada cliff, you should bring a water bottle, a hat, and sunscreen for the intense heat. You will have to follow a winding snake path to the top of the cliff in order to reach the fortress. For that purpose you should be physically and mentally prepared by being in shape and bringing the appropriate equipment.
